Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..”, comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Groß, grösser, am grössten, so lautet das aktuelle Motto bei 360 Grad-Panoramen. Den Anfang machte Dresden im Dezember letzten Jahres mit einer fantastischen Stadtansicht, zusammengebaut aus 1.655 Fotos mit einer Größe von schlappen 26 Gigapixeln (297.500 x 87.500 Pixel).
Kurz darauf kam Prag mit einem 18 Gigapixel großen Panorama, das bis in den letzten Hinterhof hinein gestochen scharf ist.
Als neuestes ist dann Paris hinzugekommen. Aus 2.436 Einzelbildern entstand ein spektakuläres Panorama, mit dem man sich einen wunderbaren Eindruck von der Stadt verschaffen kann. Allerdings muss man etwas Geduld haben, es braucht recht lange zum laden.
Es wäre doch eine schöne Aufgabe so etwas mal, wenn auch vielleicht in etwas bescheidenerem Format, von einzelnen Stellen der Insel zu machen. Das würde sicherlich mehr neue Gäste anlocken, als ein Usedom-WC.

There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don’t look even slightly believable.
Eine überraschende Kehrtwende hat der Inselrat in seiner gestrigen Sitzung in Sachen Usedom-Welcome-Center vollzogen. Ursprünglich zur Schaffung der Grundlagen für eine Investition in Höhe von geschätzten 12 Millionen Euro zusammengetreten, präsentierte der Architekt K. Lauer zu Beginn der Sitzung die Lösung auf Deutschlands schönster größter Insel Rügen.
Die dortige Tourismuszentrale betreibt in Rambin eine schlichte Variante eines Welcome-Centers in Form eines handelsüblichen Holzhauses, zu erwerben in gut sortierten Baumärkten. Diese preiswerte, schnell zu errichtende Lösung überzeugte am Ende einer hitzigen Diskussion alle.
Die Naturfreunde begrüßten den geringen Flächenverbrauch und die Möglichkeit das Welcome-Center mit nachwachsenden Rohstoffen aus dem Naturpark zu bauen, während die stets pragmatisch denkenden Kommunalpolitiker noch weitaus größere Vorteile sehen. Wegen der geringen Anschaffungskosten kann sich die Insel nicht nur ein Welcome-Center leisten sondern gleich mehrere, so dass die schwierige Aufgabe der Standortentscheidung entfällt. Daraus resultiert ein weiterer nicht zu unterschätzender Effekt: Mit der so geschaffenen Dezentralität werden lange Anfahrtswege der Besucher und damit eine wachsende Verkehrsbelastung vermieden. Auch die Finanzfachleute waren am Ende überzeugt, denn im Winter, wenn ohnehin nur wenige Urlauber da sind, kann man die Welcome-Center einfach schliessen und wenn sich ein Standort im nachhinein als ungeeignet erweisen sollte, nun dann baut man das Holzhaus einfach ab und an anderer Stelle wieder auf.
Nach der Sitzung fragten sich nicht nur die Besucher, warum man nicht schon viel früher auf diese geniale Lösung gekommen ist. Den Äusserungen der anwesenden Bürgermeister zufolge werden bis zum Beginn der Sommersaison bereits Welcome-Center in Usedom, Benz, Kamminke, Peenemünde, dem Grenzparkplatz in Ahlbeck und auf der Wolgaster Schlossinsel entstehen. Das Wolgaster Center soll dann nach Fertigstellung der Umgehungsstraße im Jahr 2025 an die neue Brücke umgesetzt werden.
